Golden Fox wins for the fiftieth time, the Suede Frida Hansdotter for the first time! Heavy snowing mixed the favourites in slalom, but the victory went to a skier, who has been placing herself among the top racers all season long.But Frida Hansdotter had to wait till the 50th Golden Fox to be able to achieve her very first World Cup victory; it happened in the best moment possible, right before the Olympics in Sochi and in hard conditions in which the weather was tailoring the course of events of this Maribor race under Vitranc.At first in the second run the younger of the Schild sisters, Bernadette, surprised everyone. She was as fast as to jump from the eleventh position to almost winning the race, being only 0,15 s delayed after the winner. Her sister Marlies, fourth after the first run, was faster for 0,10s, the Suede Pietilae-Holmner skied much worse and finally the leading American from the first run, Mikaela Schiffrin, made a big mistake in the upper part and collected a huge delay till the bottom part of the Podkoren slope.The Slovenian Maruša Ferk, who almost fell on the steepest part of the slope, was satisfied in the end after all: ”With this high bip and despite the mistake I managed to place myself among the thirty racers, so I can be leaving quite happy from here for the Olympics.”Tina Maze unfortunately didn't qualify due to a mistake right before the finish line.
