FIS Women's World Cup Director Peter Gerdol gave the final green light to the organisation of the 59th FIS Women's Golden Fox, which will take place in the form of two FIS World Cup giant slalom races in Kranjska Gora next Saturday and Sunday, i.e. on 7 and 8 January, at the snow inspection in Podkoren this morning. The FIS Women's FIS Women's World Cup Director Peter Gerdol gave the green light to the organisation of the 59th FIS Women's Golden Fox, which will take place in the form of two FIS World Cup giant slalom races in Podkoren this coming Saturday and Sunday, i.e. 7 and 8 January.
"Today we are happy to confirm the upcoming Golden Fox race. The course is not ready yet, but this is normal a week before the competition. We have enough snow everywhere on the lower part and most of it is already well consolidated, but the upper part will need a bit more consolidation, which is also the task of the organiser for the next week," Gerdol told the media after the inspection.
"We still have a lot of work to do, but we are used to it, because we work and live with nature. I am confident that we will once again produce a World Cup competition at the level it deserves." Although the warm weather conditions of the last few days have not gone the organisers' way, Dragšič remains optimistic: "We are still a week away from the race and the weather looks like it will turn in our favour, but we will definitely have to be careful and consistent and use every day wisely to consolidate and preserve the existing snow cover."
With the final confirmation of the competition, the final preparations of the course and the venue will begin in a week's time, where the world's best skiers will face each other. No less than 22 teams from all over the world have confirmed their participation, and the athletes will compete for World Cup points and the traditional Golden Fox Cup in two giant slalom races on the Vitranská slope.
Alongside the skiing action, the Golden Fox will also bring a touch of authentic Styrian culture to Kranjska Gora in the form of the (traditional in Maribor) public draws for the starting numbers, which will be further enlivened by performances by EMKEJ on Friday and Leonart on Saturday.
