Snowmaking will be possible tonight, but Christmas time is bringing warmer weather. Organizers wish for two things only. First, to keep most of snow in the upper racecourse area, especially from giant slalom start to slalom start and even lower up to »A-pole« where snow layer is sufficient for FIS snow control scheduled for 28. December. There is a lack of snow in lower area and Mitja Dragšič, Chief of Race, hopes for the cold weather: “ We hope Santa brings some snow. We just need the cold. Even inversion would do, because it would create cold in the lower racecourse area where we need it the most«.
Snow cannons are ready and run automatically where and when it is cold enough. This season we have not yet experienced real cold nor inversion typical for Pohorje area, which made snowmaking possible for all Golden Fox races so far. Due to this, hopes for 54. Golden Fox are remaining real.
From next Tuesday the organizers are expecting the cold which would enable snowmaking so FIS controller Hans Gorl could give green light for the very last part of preparations, when our “Foxes” will even spend the New Year's Eve right on the racecourse.
Since FIS controller comes from our twinned ski club in Schladming, where snow is made in a special snow depot and then distributed on the ski slopes, we may hope his visit alongside Santa brings us some snow.
