As expected the American Mikaela Shiffrin takes the lead after the first run, however, only by little advantage. Surprisingly, superb Ilka Štuhec raced excellently in the first run, as cheering made her achieve her best result in the career in slalom. Former World Youth Champion (also) in slalom proved earlier in this season in Val d'Isere already, where she competed in the alpine combined, that she is in good shape in all four disciplines. However, no one could even imagine her being 11th on a Maribor race course and faster than Ana Bucik?!
A battle in the second run will definitely be merciless – there are 5 racers within half of a second, and there are twenty of them with good chances of getting among the first 10 top skiers – not only due to small delays among the top performers, but also thanks to an excellent course, which will enable all the racers to fight it equally with aggressive skiing.
Today considerably less spectators gathered in real winter conditions with slight snowing than for yesterday's GS, however, 5.000 fans were enough to be loud enough to support the best two Slovenians and other international racers, who praised the cheering atmosphere under the Pohorje hill.
Second run is scheduled at 12.15, when the snow stadium will show itself in the sun again.
