Lack of snow was a known issue for the organizers over past 50 years. This year there is a sufficient amount of snow, yet the organizers of 57. Golden Fox are facing completely different, virus related issues. On the other hand, we cannot remember the last time ski season was opened so early. November cold helped Marprom team to create the first snow layer and December snowfall ensured the skiing season opening on 11. December. Snow cannons are ready, recreational skiers are making sure the surface will be hardened and the organizers are busy with organizing the race in so called »bubbles«. Mitja Dragšič, Chief of Race: ”Lower parts of race course will need some more cold, but we have enough time. At the moment the most important this is we all stay healthy.”
General Secretary, Srečko Vilar is coordinating the event plan with national ski association and NIJZ: ”Everything is going as planned, protocols for activities are set. Even though we never had a race like this, we are optimistic. We will make sure safety comes first for all, the competitors, accompanying personnel and all accredited persons, media representatives and organizers. FIS provided special corona-passports, which predicts regular and updated testing of everyone in the white circus. Additionally we will ensure fast testing. We want everything to be 100% safe!”
