At the Leon Štukelj Square the Maribor crowd massively greeted and congratulated Ana Drev on her today's second place at the GS race for the 52nd Golden Fox Trophy and also the organizers for their victory over the nature. Tomorrow promises a new, exciting battle among the skiing gates, which will be opened by Petra Vlhova. The Slovenians are not the favourites, but that was the general public opinion last year as well, when Tina Maze bid her (temporary) farewell. Our tomorrow’s ace could be a young racer from Nova Gorica, Ana Bucik, who starts with a number 31.
Tina sponsors a promising Slovenian skier
After the GS race was finished Tina Maze surprised with an honourable act and surprised everyone. She awarded a young Slovenian racer, Klara Livk, who is in her opinion the most promising future skier in Slovenia, with a cheque of 5.000 Euros in her own name, in the name of her team and in the name of the organizers.
Sunday visit for the Maribor downhillers
The organizers of the 52nd Golden Fox races, the Skiing Club Branik, whose male racer Boštjan Kline was second today in the Garmisch Partenkirchen race, decided to donate to the Slovenian Ski Association for the Maribor racers from the tickets sold for the Sunday Slalom race to cover all the cost the racers had to pay for themselves for the current season. Three Maribor skiers, Boštjan Kline, Klemen Kosi and Martin Čater, will be more than happy if tomorrow there will be many spectators in the finish arena of the snow stadium in Maribor. All three of them will be watching the tomorrow’s slalom race live together with other spectators.
