Nine days before the snow control, Maribor finally woke up with the sound of snow guns. After a series of mostly inaccurate weather forecasts for a lower part of the racecourse, the forecast had accurate information at a crucial time. At midnight the temperature dropped and 60 automated snow guns started to spray the snow.

The weather forecast is promising the cold needed for the snowmaking system, to last until Friday morning. With having three days of time and no complications, the chances of having a successful FIS snow control before New Year, are good. The weekend Christmas time is bringing some warm weather, yet snowfall is expected right before New Year's Eve, followed by another wave of cold temperatures. This way the Golden Fox could stay in Maribor after having to move twice in the past to Kranjska Gora. 

Bernard Majhenič, Marprom CEO: ”Each December in past seven years, the inversion which enables snowmaking in lower parts, was present. We need to take as much advantage as possible during these three days of cold weather.”

Srečko Vilar, Secretary General of the Organizing Committee: ”All organizational activities are going on well, at this point the cold remains the most important thing. There is still enough time to host the race in Maribor.”
