It happened during today's press conference in Hotel Arena, by its still green Snowy Stadium at the foot of Maribor’s Pohorje hill. "The day came when we had to make a decision about the destiny of this year's event. According to the fact that the snow control should have happened in Maribor on Thursday, 12th January, and there’s still no snow, the easiest thing to do would be to cancel the competition. But after consultations with the International Ski Organisation, we made a decision. The competition is moving to Kranjska Gora, where there is enough snow, as well as a favorable weather forecast. Because of last year's experience, we simply do not dare to take any risks. The Golden Fox is, together with the Vitranc Men’s Competition, the most important boost to Slovenian alpine competitive skiing and that is why we have to carry it out this year. We would like to thank our friends from Kranjska Gora, headed by Srečko Medven, the General Secretary of Vitranc, who helped us immediately after our decision had been made. We will definitely carry out the 48th Golden Fox together!” Vilar said.
