Twelve hours working, twelve hours waiting…..

“ As long as the sky stays clear, we are not worried,” denied Gorazd Bedrač, Chief of Race, shortly and decisively the speculations, whether or not the race is going to take place. “The forecast calls for clear skies, but it won’t be freezing,” added Markus Mayr, Assistant Director WC Technical Disciplines Ladies at the last press conference. “ The 47th Golden Fox is going to take place!” concluded Srečko Vilar, OC Secretary General.

The Friday will bring the final decision, when the Organizer, whose 60 men have been already the whole week working very hard on the course to protect the snow from melting,

shall choose the adequate recipe and the wait for the outcome. Markus Mayr:” It is difficult, we are not playing games. Although I am optimistic about the proper preparation of snow and of having on Saturday and Sunday excellent races on well prepared courses. On Friday we are going to prepare the complete snow surface during twelve hours with water and salt  and then wait for the effects happening during the next twelve night- hours. On Saturday morning the Director Atle Skaardal and the Jury are going to make a course inspection.”

Independently of the operations on the slopes and of the ever changing weather forecasts the work in the OC offices are running smoothly. The first team are expected to start arriving tonight, most of them tomorrow, including the Slovenian team, that shall represent itself in the afternoon at the press conference  in hotel Arena. The hotels in Maribor are complete and also many of them outside the town are full. The 47th Golden Fox will host 124 competitors from 24 countries, including the coaches and service-men altogether 313 people. The World Cup Giant slalom  on  Saturday and the Slalom on Sunday  are going to be live broadcast by TV Slovenia , Austria, BiH, Canada, Croatia,  Finland, Germany, Italy, Russia, Sweden, Switzerland, USA and by Eurosport also in other European and Asian countries.

Srečko Vilar, OC Secretary General of the 47th Golden Fox:” The information coming from the slope are encouraging. Beside that, we are finishing all tasks being on schedule: security, installations and structures, traffic, media and accreditation. Of course, we are counting again on crowds  of spectators to come to the Snow Stadium to cheer to the competitors. We shall be very well taking care of all visitors. They can ride the busses on line 6 for free on Saturday and Sunday, next the finish arena food and beverages will be available in a big catering warm-up tent. A lot is going on also in the City, on Trg svobode: on Friday at 17.00 the group Siddartha is performing, followed by the solemn opening and the public draw for giant slalom at 18,00. On Saturday at 17.00 we’ll hear the group Tekochee Kru and have the chance to see at 18.00 the prize giving ceremony for the giant slalom and the public draw for slalom.
