Zlata lisica in Kranjska Gora!

( 27. 01. 2014 )

FIS Inspector Filip Gartner skied down the Podkoren slope, inspected the amount and quality of the snow base and then from the finnish area called the FIS World Cup director Atle Skaardal to Cortina: ”Kranjska Gora can host the Golden Fox races! There's enough snow to prepare the race slope of good quality.”

The nature has helped the organizers a bit in the last moment by cooling down, which will enable additional snowing of the ski slopes.

Filip Gartner, FIS Snow Inspector:”Only the finnish part of the slope lacks about 20 percent of snow, but on all other parts the slope is wide enough and has enough snow. Actually, the FIS race could be held tomorrow already. Excellent! I was in touch with Atle Skaardal today, who was happy to hear the news, and healready confirmed the decision about the transfer to Kranjska Gora. Next week some changeable weather is expected, but the worst that can happen is a lot of fresh snow might fall the following Thursday and Friday and it will need to be removed from the race track. But the organizers did some great work on the slope, since the thaw took a lot of snow and they managed immediately to cover the open parts without snow which enabled the snow base to harden during the last two nights.”

Gorazd Bedrač, Chief of the Race: ”We can be optimistic, it looks good. Snow is lively, which will enable us to harden it for the race in order to prepare an excellent track.”

Srečko Vilar, Secretary General OC:”We’re happy, even though some bitter taste stays because of the transfer. It is important that the race is kept in Slovenia and that our skiers will have some support from domestic fans and advantage due to domestic terrain right before they leave for Olympics in Sochi. With our friends from Vitranc Cup we’ll do everything to organise the Golden Fox races successfully in Kranjska Gora. Afterwards there will be a huge celebration event in Maribor to honour this year’s grand anniversary.”
